Dear Readers,

We must begin our review of 2024 by responding to the peaceful, civil protests that have been taking place for almost the entire year and which took on a particularly massive and sustained character towards the end of the year. Each member of the Gnomon Wise team profoundly believes that Georgia's democratic, Euro-Atlantic future is being decided today by peaceful protests on the streets of the capital and the regions.

Accordingly, in parallel with our activities, like other responsible citizens, including on the streets, we defend the democracy of this country and resist the final embodiment of authoritarianism. We believe that with our peaceful protest, we will return Georgia to a democratic, Western path and fulfil the unwavering will of many generations to be an integral part of the Western family.

In addition, these processes have made us realize how important the bridge is between academia and civil society, between the creation of knowledge and the application of this knowledge. In this situation, the challenges' depth, intensity and close connection in all directions are even more clearly visible. It is around these problems that Gnomon Wise has been concentrating all year, exploring their nature and offering possible solutions to these problems through relevant policy documents, analytical papers, reviews, opinions, public presentations and discussions.

Once public and political consensus is re-established, the research and policy documents we have prepared will contribute to solving systemic problems. With the efforts of Georgian citizens, academia, civil society, media, international partners, and all stakeholders, changes are possible that will bring us a better future.

Our readers provide unique motivation on this complex and challenging path—Gnomon Wise thanks all those who have made even a tiny contribution to the work of our institute.

This document briefly presents the Gnomon Wise team's main activities during 2024.
